Yeah, usually it makes me work even harder to make sure that I do it. I am very stubborn that way. My middle school math teacher told me that I couldn't do alagebra or math in general very well and shouldn't persue a career in it. Later, while in college I was an informal business statistics tutor to my classmates. When the professor couldnt teach a concept effectively, he would turn to me and I would explain it. Did I have a genius intellect, no I worked my @$$ off until I could understand a concept. If I couldn't get an idea one way I would attack it from a different angle. Hardwork will make up for a lack of talent everytime. You have to want it bad enough though. ANd being told I couldn't do it made me want it that much more.

Yes. Most of my family members thought of me as "dumb" when I was in high school and the job I had was to be a cashier for eternity. Minimum wage was $4.75 back then and they thought that good grades like "B's and A's" were the grades to go to college (even community college), but I proved them wrong. I worked at a crummy job for a while and saved enough money to go to the community college and earned my Associates Degree. Now that I have worked for awhile and have a background in banking, I am waiting for the agency to "find" me the position because clerical work is hard to find these days. also, I don't need to be a cashier for eternity.

Yep!
I was in a accident when young (well several lol! Seizures don't always happen when one is ready for it). Arthritis (Ra) set in, doctors told me and my mother that I would live all my life on disability. Proved them wrong and worked with minimal pain (pain killers are great things) before finally having to give up.....
Some people go for this reverse phsycology.....You say I cant so I am going to ....lol!

My oldest brother and I never got along. He told me that I wouldn't amount to anything. I'm going to wind up as a housekeeper, and a old maid. Well, I went to collage and became a R.N. I've also been married 12 years with 2 children.

Sure. Into my 30s, I'd beat my brains out to prove them wrong, and sometimes it worked out. Now day, though, if someone tells me I can't do something, my typical response is, "Thank god."
