I lose internet connectivity when I attach my ipod for updating.?

Why is this happening and what can I do to prevent it? Both the ipod and the wireless internet adapter are on different USB ports.

Computers have to do a lot of work to run your ipod and Internet at the same time. It might help if you log on to the Internet first and then maybe try to plug in your ipod.
