The roar of a Jet Fighter powering through the sound barrier overhead whilst in the isolation and quiet of the Lake District. They fly over really low sometimes and the sound is just amazing in contrast to the sounds you descibe in your question which was all around just seconds before. ACE!
The other loud sound which is one of my faves is the sound of the pack out of the first corner in a World Superbike race! Phwoar!
