i have a 55 gal tank.i put a 3 inch red devil and a jewell in the tank at the same time with no other fish.the RD claimed one cave the jewell took the other.no probs..then 3 days later i added a 4 in dovii. the dovii kicked out the jewell and the RD has since barricaded itself in by pushing gravel all around the cave, and it wont come out for feeding.the other two eat like pigs.the jewell will only eat flake food and the dovii eats pellets and flake. i had a RD years ago and my experience was it patrolled the tank like a demon and killed anything that it didnt like, but this one is skittish and doesnt leave his cave for food..will it starve ? what should i do.?

I would suggest another tank for your skitish devil. Isolate it from the other fish.

The RD is probably intimidated by the dovii. Suggest moving the dovii to it's own large tank. You know the jewel will most likely eventually end up as food lol?

Try rearranging the tank. It will feel like a new tank to them and make them all find a new spot and maybe the red devil will feel he doesn't have to protect his spot as much. If that doesn't work then add more caves.
