My home is only 5 years old. We have had the insurance people to look at it and they all agree that it is a manufacturing error when the shingles were placed on the roof. So now I am paying for a home that could fall in on us at anytime. When my husband removed the vents under the roof we had pieces of the frame work fall out along with pieces of the plywood that is under the roofing paper. What are my options other that fixing it myself?

Not a lot. You may want to check with the local building and zoning board. Some areas require constructions to post bonds in case of something like this were the company goes out of business with any warranty claims pending.

You can file a claim against Oakwood Mobile Homes and "if" there are any funds left after the courts pay off the secured creditors, then you may get some relief.

Since Oakwood filed a long time ago, it is likely, you will not recover much.

I would check with an attorney experienced in Bankruptcy. Most have what is called a no-fee consultation and you can go over your situation with him or her and they can tell you if it is worth the effort. Good luck!

If it's that bad you need to fix it as soon as you can. Deal with how to get your money back after. Better to be safe then try to get the money out of somebody that doesn't exist. Check with your state on who you can go after to get your money.
