An ABS TONE RING is the tooth laden device attached to the hub or axle that the ABS sensor uses to "count" the speed of the axle/hub rotation. It them sends a signal to the ABS controller, and the controller compares ALL of the signals from the car, and uses these signals to make anti-lock adjustments for the braking system.
Yes, the TONE RING can crack, and when they do, they can generate a false or "dirty" signal.

Yes there is ABS Rings are used on The CV Constant Velocity Joints that drive your front wheels and yes they can crack and break. Here is a common catalog link
