I require preferably a wireless trackball and keyboard that is re-chargable and will operate my computer from my armchair approx 20 feet away from my 42" plasma which is being used as a monitor using windows media player for music only. As yet I have been unable to find anything with a range more than about 2 metres, Source must be within the UK.

Try Bluetooth.

In our conference room we use a Logitech® Cordless Desktop® MX⢠5000 Laser
This item works using Bluetooth. It has more than enough range for your application. Has multimedia features.
A little pricy at $150 but well worth it.
