Ok first you need to take a deep breath and calm down. If you are feeling pressure and not pain or contractions, you are probably just feeling the symptoms of pregnancy darlin. The hard feeling in your lower abdomen, is it right above your pubic bone? This could be the babys head. if you are not accustomed to this feeling and the baby was previously head up, in your ribs, then your baby could have simply turned to the head down position, and at 28 weeks that is normal. I had preterm labor at 27 weeks, if you were in labor you would be having tremendous amounts of pain, and would not wait around to ask questions on Yahoo!! Not criticising at all. I would suggest calling your doctor, and he will probably have you come in for a simple exam to determine one way or the other if he feels that you need to be admited to the hospital. Also, start now and drink lots of water. Dehydration can cause your body to do pretty strange things when you are pregnant. Take into consideration as well how long it has been since you have had a bowel movement, the pressure and hardness you feel could be impacted bowel. If this is the case, again drink lots of water and take some Dulcolax, this is a gentle enough stool softner that will not cause cramping and is safe for baby too. If you have not had a bowel movement by the next day, go to your local pharmacy and purchase a Fleet emema. I know they are not pleasant at all. When I was pregnant I was soooo sick that I had a prescription for Zofran, which is a anti nausea that they usually prescribe for Chemotherapy patients. One of the consequences of taking it and not being sick was that I was horribly constipated. I ate alot of fiber, and bran cereals, and stayed away from Bananas and whole milk.

Any time you feel uncertain about health issues during your pregnancy you should talk to your doctor. Let him/her be the one to decide if you should come in to be checked out or not. Sometimes they can tell you right over the phone what it going on and then you can relax. Knowledge is power. Once something isn't an unknown any more it isn't so scary.
During pregnancy your uterus will get hard and back ache goes with the territory. It could be Braxton Hicks contractions (like someone else mentioned). It is where your body is practicing and preparing itself for the real event. It can be really uncomfortable and scary during your first pregnancy.
Bottom line, don't just let it keep worrying you and guessing yourself what it may or may not be. Always take the safe route and make the call to your doctor.
Good luck and congratulations!

More than likely they are Braxton-Hicks contractions. These contractions prepare your body for the hard work of labor and delivery. They soften and thin the cervix (the “exit route” from the uterus through which the baby passes during delivery). These contractions tend to increase in the weeks right before your due date. During these contractions, you may feel tightening of your uterus muscles at irregular intervals or a “squeezing” in your lower abdomen and groin.
Sometimes you can just barely sense these contractions, feeling only a painless tightening. At other times, the contractions can be strong or painful. These contractions tend to come and go unpredictably and tend to show up in the afternoon or evening—particularly when you are tired or have had a lot of physical activity during the day.
Probably nothing to worry about, but, as always, if you have any questions or concerns, always call your OB.

I am 21 weeks and I feel the same thing. My Dr. says its just my uterus stretching and the reason I feel it tightening so much is because I'm not drinking enough water and for me to try to drink a gallon a day but no less than 64oz. a day. Other than that it's really nothing to worry about. but me being the paranoid freak that I am I worry about every little thing because I've had a M/C before. I say go to your Dr. or at least call and see what they have to say. If the symptoms you describe to them seems abnormal they'll have you come in or go to the emergency room.

I think it's important that you get this checked out right away. Call your doctor and see if they can squeeze you in - otherwise go in to your local emerg. room. IF you are in labour then try not to worry too much - lots and lots of babies are born at 28 weeks or earlier and are tiny but healthy. Good luck Sweety.

It could be a lot of pressure from the baby. However, you should def. go and get checked out by your doc. asap! You are only 28 weeks along and if something is wrong you want to catch it now! Hope that everything works out for you!

Sweetie, listen to your mom, and go to the doctor, PLEASE!
You won't know what it is unless you see your doctor, and if you don't you are just going to be worrying about what it could be.
I think that you need to go, if only to be told by a medically trained professional that your uterus is stretching. Don't be concerned that you are wasting doctor's time, that is what he is there for.
Please make that appointment now.

if your lower abdomen is hurting and it is hard it could very well be a hernia. Whatever it is if you are pregnant you need to go to the doctor asap. Could just be gas though, and hopefully thats it.

You won't know unless you get examined by your doctor. Call him/her up and explain exactly what you're feeling. The doctor will tell you if what you're feeling is normal or if you need to be seen. Good luck.
