We've been ttc for almost 4 months now. Had surgery 7 months ago, removed one ovary. I've tried everything to track ovulation. I don't think that my surviving ovary is even releasing an egg because my BBT never rises or drops, I've taken ovulation predictor test and it was neg.....So, my question is: If you don't ovulate, does your body ever adjust itself and start releasing eggs again or do you have to take medication like Clomid or something to make your ovary to release eggs? Please help!

My periods are the same every month. Each month I start exactly six days prior to the first day of my last period. For example.. I had a period October 8th...so my next one will be November 2nd. Period lasts for 5 days. Always the same. I think this means I have a 24 day cycle..please correct me if I am wrong. Thank you all so much for your insights on my problem.

The first day of your period is the first day of your monthly cycle. Most women alternate between ovaries when ovulating. So if you ovulate on your left side one month, you would most likely ovulate on the right side the next month. Therefore, this cuts down on your chances of conception since you only have one ovary.
Sometimes when you are anovulatory, you can take birth control pills for one month because you are most likely to ovulate the first month off birth control pills. However, if your cycles are regular, then that might not be the answer for you. In addition to Clomid, HCG injections also aid in ovulation.
I would make an appointment with your OB and show him/her your bbt charts. Discuss your options. Maybe your remaining ovary shut down after having the other one removed. That's just a pure guess on my part. If so, there might be another medication that can jump start it. I wouldn't waste anymore time and go to the Dr.
Good luck!

I'm attempting to not move loopy myself. However, I can inform you that with my first, I have been TTC for a while. But the month that I bought pregnant, I was once TOO BUSY to time something or pay concentration to any SIGNS. I was once visiting and going out of the city each and every weekend for weddings, and so forth. I was once busy at paintings and dealing lengthy hours. So I was once form of surprised while I discovered I had overlooked my interval. I promised myself with #two I could take a look at NOT to learn an excessive amount of into something on account that it by no means helped. But that's simpler stated than performed.

Not sure how the body adjusts after having an ovary removed. I would think it would take you a while just to get over the shock and to start having periods again.
What I used to get pregnant was a ClearBlue Easy Fertility Monitor. Those things are awesome. I got pregnant the first try. It showed me I was trying at the wrong time.
I gave it to my best friend that had trouble also charting her temps and finding the ovulation date. She used it and once she got it adjusted to her body chemistry (because you aren't supposed to share those machines) she tried and the first month she got pregnant.
I thought $200 was a small price to pay to help get pregnant quicker.
Best of luck.

My first suggestion to you is to contact your doctor about this. I'm ttc as well and have PCOS which causes ovulation problems. I did have to use Clomid to conceive with my first child, and had no issues from it. Recently, I contacted my doc after ttc for several months and she sent me to get an ultrasound to check for folicles. I had several, which means there's a great chance that an egg will be released this month. Over the counter tests cannot tell you how fertile you are if you have issues, and bbt charting isn't always correct.

I would be talking to the Dr about getting on clomid. I would think that without it...you are only ovulating every other month because you only have one overy. Talk to the Dr about a low does 50mg of clomid...and if taking it every month would it make your one overy produce every month. I took clomid because I wasn't ovulating(due to taking the depo shot) and got pregnant within 3 cycles.

Wow this is a tough one. Ive never had that problem, but the best indicator is your periods. How regular are they? Research has shown that if your periods are regular, you are ovulating regularly.... Ovulation tests only work well if you're regular. Otherwise, you'd have to use those tests every day to see if you're ovulating, and it gets expensive.

You really need to ask your doc this ?
because 7 month you should be going back to normal ("") by now check to see if he can do a test to see if you are Ovulaing
also if you can try to avoid Clomid
Good Luck

i would talk to your doctor, you are going to drive your self nuts.
i would say that you would need to take medication to start you ovulating, even if you might start to ovulate on your own in the future are you willing to wait!!!
