well I don't think that watching a video should be a condition of receiving condoms as I feel it would discourge kids from asking for them. The video should be shown to everyone- afterall is health not porn- we had to watch videos in health class and biology anyway.
the fact of the matter is that kids are going to be having sex whether or not you provide condoms- if you do they are WAY more likely to practice safer sex.

I'm all for it, and I don't think they should need a form signed by their parents. The videos are a good idea, though. And I'm a parent...

Look, statistics are very clear: something like 54% of teenagers have had sex before they turn 18. Because they don't get enough education on birth control, and sex is often a "taboo" subject with parents and religion, they often have no idea how to do it responsibly. Just look at the "questions" here on Yahoo Answers posed by teens: "Can I get pregnant from anal sex?", "Is my ovulation during or after my period?", "Can I get pregnant from rubbing against him?" The level of igorance is staggering.

Besides videos on teen pregnancy and stds, the nurse should also show them a video about BIRTH CONTROL. What kinds there are, what works, what risks there are, what doesn't work, etc. A little education to go along with the scare tactics. It's obvious from the numbers that we're not going to stop teens from having sex -- so the least we can do is teach them to have it responsibly and keep themselves from getting sick and/or pregnant.

I've always thought they should just stock a big bowl and leave it by the door.

Don't people realize that the percent of teens getting pregnant, AIDS, Herpes, Chlamydia is actually going up! Yes, even in this day of instant information. Teens minds just do not comprehend that yes, it can happen to you. Not to mention that the number of young girls that WANT babies is growing.

If I were a young man, there is NO way I would risk no condom and lifetime babies. When my son was old enough to hear it, I informed him about the girls who think, "if I have his baby, he will love me forever", without even considering the lifetime consequences of their actions. These girls just don't realize that almost none of these relationships ever work long term, and they will end up raising baby by themselves, staying home while their friends go to college, travel the world and go clubbing.

As for the video, I wouldn't require it. Any roadblock you put up will be the most used excuse to not use the condoms b/c. And in my world, I wouldn't require the parents permission either, too many close-minded stupid future grandparents are out there. Hope these "condoning it" parents enjoy raising their
grandbabies.

My son is 23 and thank god, no babies ever! My daughter is 1 and her *ss will be well informed and she will be on birth control as soon as I even think she is thinking about sex. I love my children more than life and would not wish the hardships of raising babies, while a baby on either of them.

I don't really fly with that. That's like encouraging them to use them. Perhaps some kids wouldn't do anything, but once they get that condom, maybe they'll let curiosity soar. Who knows...

So no, I don't want them given out. Or birth control! What if they have some kind of reaction to the BC pills while on a prescription medication??

But if these things must be given out, the parents better know about it!

I knew approximately intercourse lengthy earlier than I went to Middle School and High School because of parental impacts. Yet, I consider that mum and dad and the colleges have to play an energetic function within the children's lives. The mum and dad blame the colleges for now not instructing them, the colleges blame the mum and dad for now not instructing them both so you then come to be with a few teenagers pregnant considering that they concept they could not get pregnant if he pulled out, could not get pregnant whilst on their intervals or could not get pregnant in the event that they have been virgins. It's obivious no person is instructing youngsters approximately nontoxic intercourse hobbies and the way to guard themselves from pregnancies and STD's. So sure, I believe handing out BC's and condoms is truthfully our most secure wager at the moment till America stops being so purtanicial in relation to intercourse interval. If I determined my son used to be being sexually energetic I will without difficulty take a seat down with him and inform him the professionals and cons and in addition inform him for his safeguard and the safeguard of others, he must ALWAYS use safeguard and now not believe of the matters I indexed under or if the woman says she is at the capsule. You simply certainly not recognise. It is unhappy that youngsters eleven - thirteen years historical are fitting sexually energetic however in society in these days it is not a shock after we glorify little women in tiny clothes posing in risque habits - we, as residents, are permitting it after which freak out after we uncover youngsters are sexually energetic. You may additionally believe they'll take at the accountability of elevating a youngster however a youngster elevating a youngster is not a well factor. I recognise many youngsters who ended up ditching their so desired youngster with their mum and dad to keep on as being youngsters. The different detail with condoms is the truth that it is not simply being pregnant you must fear approximately anymore.
