There was only one Freddie Mercury.

I saw Queen / Paul Rogers this past spring. He (Rogers) covers some of Freddie's vocals reasonably well, but, as a Queen fan, Brian May and Roger Taylor were the draws (John Deacon is not currently playing with the band).

There was a great homage to Freddie on "Bohemian Rhapsody" - the song started with a video on the big screen of him singing at the piano, and the band joined in from there. It was very well done and very well received.

Brian's acoustic skiffle "'39" on the stage extension and Roger (Taylor)'s raspy "These Are the Days of Our Lives" (as an old black-and-white video of the young band in Japan played on the screen) were other personal high points.

I felt a little bad for Rogers when most everyone sat down when he pulled out several of his old numbers. A great concert, nonetheless.

p.s. - There's a video of the concert from last year which plays on Voom RAVE from time to time, if you have DishNetwork's HD package.

No-one can replace Freddie ! Never & ever!
Freddie was a genius of our time...
Though Paul Rodgers is a nice singer, but can't replace Freddie!
I myself like Queen + Paul Rodgers ! After all these years, it's a cool experiment for Brian.

Nobody is good enough to replace Freddie. I have the live CD of Queen w/Paul Rodgers and it's not bad. You have to pretty much take it for what it is.

Rodgers is one of the all-time great rock vocalists, as was Mercury. Two distinct styles; one (Rodgers) soulful, the other flamboyant and operatic. I haven't seen or heard anything from their shows but I'd be interested in hearing how Rodgers voice fits in doing the harmonies with Brian May and Roger Taylor.
