I know he's an intelligent man and presents himself very well and would have no problem voting for him myself but could he actually win any states in the racist deep South?

Why not, he is one the few more credible candidates that the democrats can put forth. Question is, is the US ready for a non-white president? Who knows? we will see in 2008.

Sure, racism isnt that alive anymore. on the other hand what about the huge group that wants to abolish racism they would ote for him because he isnt a good candidate. hopefully the black vote would count this time. it didnt with dubya cuz everyone was a convicted felon. so they thought ooops

It's not a question of race but a question of ability. I would welcome Colin Powell or Condaleeza Rice as president but Obama has no executive leadrership experience.
