Funny old guy who's dead.

George Burns, born Nathan Birnbaum (January 20, 1896 – March 9, 1996), was an American comedian and actor.

His career spanned vaudeville, film, radio, and television, with and without his equally legendary wife, Gracie Allen. His arched eyebrow and cigar smoke punctuation became familiar trademarks for over three quarters of a century. Enjoying a remarkable career resurrection that began at age 79, and ended shortly before his passing at age 100, George Burns was better known in the last two decades of his life than at any other time in his life and career.

George Burns was a comedian who died in 1996 at the age on 100. He did stand up, (vaudeville and stage/ later years Las Vegas) radio, TV and movies. In his movies, he is best known for playing God in Oh God! and a sequel. They also starred John Denver in both movies.

His side kick on and off stage was Gracie Allen. She was a great comedian in her own right. I believe they did vaudeville together. They did a radio show in the '30's and/or 40's; and a TV show in the 50's. They were so good together, and funny. Gracie Allen died in the 1950's; I believe of cancer. He never remarried, but in later years, his Las Vegas and stage shows always included lots of young beautiful women. He is known to always have a cigar in his hands, which became his trademark.

Of course, you can go on-line and get a bio on him; just google George Burns. However, thanks for the question. It was fun for me to bring back memories of one of my favorite comedians when I was a child.
