well I have certainly suffered from both at various times in my life and they are both insidious, in fact I firmly believe that mental sloth significantly contributed to my mothers death... how to choose... hmm... I am going to choose physical sloth as being worse based on my own experience...

After 9/11 I sat there watching the burning towers and all the coverage of the aftermath and I felt both physically and mentally paralyzed. I could not get my mental engines running until I got my physical engines running so I think that getting the physical engine running was more important since it was need to jump-start the other... conversely i think shutting down the physical will ultimately lead to shutting down the mental and is therefore worse

WHOA--something to think about...*S* I believe that mental sloth--as you call it--is worse than the physical because our minds should always be moving, thinking, discovering new things and new ways of looking at the world. Physical inactivity is bad as well--that leads of degredation of the body, but mental inactivity is a betrayal of both the mind AND the body. Like the saying goes: If you don't pull it out and use it, it's gonna rust *HEH HEH*

If mental, How mental? So much so that I would not register what goes on around me? Then I would not care, But if Physical??? Your brain is aware of your disabilities, is it not?

Well there seems to be a contradiction in your question. You say you have nothing against Scientology itself and yet you are concerned, because of the "controversial reputation" that it seems to have. The problem is that you yourself do not really know what your friend is learning about and have been affected by the "contoversy" so appear to him to be doubtful and suspicious of what he says. So when he talks about it to you this comes across. This is making it harder for him to be with you. There is less undestanding between you. This is what is causing the apparent change in your friendship. It has nothing to do with the time you do or do not spend together. You should make the effort to restore good and honest communication between you and your friend. Concentrate on restoring the affinity and understanding between you. There is a breakdown in the Reality, Affinity and Communication between you two. The only solution is more honest communication not less. This, by the way, is a basic principle of Scientology. I have studied Scientology for many years and do know what it is about. It is a study of knowledge about life itself. (Yes, I am also, of course, a Scientologist myself)
