I think it's kind of an unfair question/comparison. People asked these questions about Christian Bale, Michael Caine, and (to a lesser extent) Gary Oldman. When the movie came out, certainly no true comparison could be made between Batman Begins and the original Batman. The movies are simply too different, in terms of story and style. It's like comparing apples and oranges. Sure, they're both fruit, but there two completely different entities.
I think the comparison is far more temping with Ledger/Nicholson because Nicholson's Joker has become so iconic. Perhaps even moreso than Keaton's Batman... and possibly that's because the Joker was only in the original Batman movie, and was not present in the other three to be destroyed and mocked by poor quality (yes, 3 and 4, I'm looking at you).
One thing is certain: Ledger is not Nicholson. They are two different actors with two different styles. To say Ledger will not be as good as Nicholson isn't fair to Ledger, who has already proven he is a fantastic actor with a very wide range. His performance will depend on his own ability, yes, but also on the writing and directing of Christopher Nolan.
Most people can agree that Brandon Routh did an admirable job as Superman- not the same as Christopher Reeve, certainly, but a good job in his own right, in a new, updated, and different movie than the originals. I'm sure Ledger is capable of the same.

You really can't compare the Joker that Heath is playing and the Joker that Nicholson played, because they're going to be portrayed in such different ways. Nicholson's Joker was more of the wild, funny, colorful insane guy while Ledger's Joker (according to Christopher and Jonathan Nolan) will be more like how the Joker was when he first appeared in the comics...as a psycho killer type. Ledger (or anyone else in my opinion) could never surpass Nicholson's Joker, but who knows, he might just do a good job playing him as a more serious killer. I for one am glad they're going this route instead of trying to "out-do" Jack, cuz that's freakin' impossible. But really, would you wanna see (or would it even match) a purple suited joker with his posse of thugs vandalizing an art gallery in "The Dark Knight?" Nah, just doesn't fit.

No way I agree with the first person. no comparison. I mean sure Heath is a pretty okay actor and all but I mean Jack look at all the stuff he has under his belt and I mean its Jack he is great at that crazy stuff, hes got the right look. Heath is too cute to be a nut bag.

nicely the element with appearing is as an actor, with the intention to play your function nicely, you variety of could positioned your self into the function your enjoying. So being Joker could be complicated given which you may could have his variety of recommendations-set. I recommend while appearing, you'll be that individual, and Joker is extraordinarily deranged so having to do which could be complicated so i think of that's what Jack ment approximately "warning" him approximately enjoying that area.
