When I was pregnant I wouldn't let women tell me about "myths". Each pregnancy is different and I wanted to enjoy the experience.
I never understand women telling a pregnant women all the bad things they've heard or experienced....I think it should be a time to offer support.

I don't know what all the myths are, but for fact when I was in my third trimester I was so horney (to the point where I noticed something was not normal). I had heard that that you might, but before I actually experienced my self I didn't really beleive it. I just figured womens sex drives were the same as always, but it was just more evident because they had this big belly and it got in the way making the the sexual aspect more evident. Not the case your sex drive will triple. I didn't really get any cravings for food that were out of the ordinary, nor did I eat some strange concoction of pickles and ice cream. Other than those I can't really think of any myths I had heard. I'd say mostly what you hear is fiction until it becomes fact because you experienced it yourself.

And you've only just begun....your best bet is to use common sense and talk to your doctor about things that confuse you.
Having said that let me add my two cents...no matter how you end up having your baby please don't buy into the garbage that if you don't do it "naturally" you didn't do it "right". Have a healthy happy pregnancy and an easy, worry free delivery/birth. If you by chance find yourself having a c-section or using meds to ease you through, take a deep breath, listen to your Doctor, and know that the most important thing is not how that baby comes into the world, but that you and baby are healthy! I had 3 c-sections and was ready to kill everyone that tried to push me into trying VBAC (vaginal birth after c-section) after I talked to my Doctor about why I had to have the first c-section and what would happen when I decided to have other children. Everyone is different and the medical world changes so quickly that we can't keep up with it all...that's why we have Doctors in the first place, it's their job to make sure that everything that can be done will be to ensure that all are healthy.
Remember to talk to your Doctor, eat healthy foods, get plenty of rest now...you won't sleep much later! Have fun setting up your baby stuff! Best wishes...

Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting" by Heidi Murkoff. It's the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. I refer to it almost daily right now and I am due Feb 2, 2007. Your question as well as many others that you would not expect is in there. It's excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.
Good Luck!

I've been getting a lot of people telling me wives tales while I've been pregnant (mostly my grandma though). She told me:
Not to raise my hands above my head at all, it could cause the cord to wrap around the baby's neck (FALSE, the cord can be attached anywhere in the placenta)
If you carry low it's a boy (FALSE, I'm carrying high and it's a boy)
If you crave sweets it's a girl (FALSE, that's all I've been craving, and again, I'm having a boy)
Don't eat a lot of tuna (TRUE, it contains Mercury)
Don't eat Sushi (TRUE, because it's uncooked)
Don't take baths (FALSE, as long as the water isn't too warm, and you aren't leaking fluid, it's ok)
There are a lot more...those are just some of the ones people told me!

Every pregnancy is different, I have had three and no of the prgnancy were a like. Just take the "advice" with a grain of salt. If you are concered check with your doctor. Just wait to you get to the end of the pregnany you will stop hearing "advice " but start hearning your "your still pregnant" 100 times a day (it is much more irritating.

All of what they say could be true, what you have to keep in mind is that we are so different from each other that what might be true for them doesn't apply for you at all. I just try to live my pg my way, and try not to believe everything i'm told.
