Wouldn't you. After all they are a business not a charity, British workers are expensive and frankly rather demanding. You have to remember companies like this are there to make money. 20% of which goes back to the government in taxes each year and then get spent on our public services (the more profit they make the more tax they pay), also tax and national insurance that they pay each pay day.

If I was running a business and had the choice of halving my costs I would too...wouldn't you. Remember large corporates give a whole load of cash to the treasury without which we would have to pay higher taxes......Tesco (and all corportaes) are good not horrible.

Have not heard this one. Maybe its just that some of the foreign workers, eg Poles, are prepared to work longer and harder. They cannot be paid less since there is a minimum wage in place in UK also Poles have the right, as Citizens of the EU, to travel anywhere in the EU seeking employment. The gov expected about 16,000 Poles but what we got instead was more than half a million. You'd better check out the actual figure, must be in the press somewhere. Remember too that there is little or no problem about employment in UK - things are booming in certain sectors but going down in others.

In any event, for business to survive and thrive in the cut-throat environment of the capitalist world, it must exploit every opportunity and that includes people. We, the workers, are only wage slaves, we can be hired and fired at will. Its the system you see.

Money talks, if they can get away with it , and they can, they will, they screw all the providers of the food and such for the smallest amount they can to pay, then they declare vast profits they even buy off Local Councils with new roads and roundabouts to accomodate the stores to then inpose on us

Foreigners are cheaper and work harder. I do loath Tesco but for different reasons.
