For me, it's this internal sensation that I feel when I see a baby or hold a baby. There's a connection with Mother and Child that is so deep, I really couldn't live my life without feeling that. I want to know what it feels like to have a baby in my tummy and to breast-feed and to see my baby react to me because he/she knows I'm it's Mom. It's very deep and extrememly overwhelming and it's the most amazing thing I will ever have the chance to do in my life. Therefore, I want to at least do it once.

Never felt that way.
I wanted to have a baby at 24 but it was not the right time. Then did not care for motherhood at all until I turned 33 and was married to a wonderful guy. We have a baby now but I never felt "I Had to bear at least one child." That is a stereotype.

All beings are naturally inclined to reproduce. It's a hormonal instinct thing unfortunately.

I don't want kids, I really don't, but I sometimes think "Wonder what it would be like.." and have to stop myself. It's kind of about denying instinct in favour of the reality behind it. Unfortunately most people aren't capable of making this distinction and just reproduce as much as they can (or until their instincts have been satisfied or replaced with the urge to mother them).

I don't mean to offend anyone but it is simply a matter of instinct.

It's a bit of a generalisation but hey what the hell. Most humans feel the need to procreate because this is, at present, the only way we have of ensuring our immortality. Our genetic code is passed on through procreation. Until we can freeze our brains and transplant that stuff this is all that is left to us. Oh and it also feels great to bake the buns for the oven too.

The social pressure, I think, is the big issue; it is the image of being a woman. Some women want to experience child birth. in some cases, although not as common as in the past, there is the desire of continuity of family name and genes.

I have never felt the need to reproduce, but I suppose that women who follow more traditional gender roles feel that they need to be a mother and caretaker. Also, hormones can affect the desire to have children, some women who would normally not want children have an urge to have children during certain times in their menstrual cycles.

Bearing childreen completes the sexual act.

Similar to why men feel the need to have sex. This is just how life has programed creation into both the man and women; men are driven for sexual behavior while women are driven to get fruit from their sexuality. Usually men too desire the fruit contrary to popular belife; many men love childreen very deeply.

Humans are animals afterall and the urge to procreate is instinctive. But, being that most of us are intelligent, we choose to have at least one child to carry on our genetic makeup, our name, and in some ways to prove to ourself that we can do a good job raising a child.

All women have a "maternal instinct" which is why they bear babies! Some of them get treated like last years Barbie Dolls though!

i think it's nature to want to start a family..... why do most men feel they have to have sex? or eventually find "the one" to get married to? because naturally that is an urge..just as having a child, to love and care for, someone who will love you, is almost a need because our bodies are programmed that way.

just because we have "intellectual" capacity to attempt to suppress or control certain urges doesn't mean we are not still susceptible of natural instincts.
