i know that this is off 'loads of stuff', but im sure this has been used on at least one cult type programme! Please put me and my whole office out of our misery!

It's called the Devil's Gallop and it's the memorable theme tune to the radio serial Dick Barton, and was composed by Charles Williams.

Those of a younger generation may know it as the incidental music to the final stages of The Spanish Inquisition sketch by Monty Python. It has also reappeared recently as the (hummed) music to The Surprising Adventures of Sir Digby Chicken-Caesar sketch on That Mitchell and Webb Look.
