You don't indicate why you might have a need for surgery. Do you suffer from Endometriosis or another cause of infertility? Or do you have unexplained infertility (i.e., trying for 6 mos. to a year with no result)?

Should you require surgery like the laparoscopy as part of an infertility workup, it depends on what will be done...for example, if Endometriosis is detected and removed, your recovery can be expected to be about 5-10 days (it varies by patient). If the surgery is diagnostic-only and nothing is surgically treated, the recovery will be much quicker.

Depending on the cause of your secondary infertility, and how it is treated initially, success rates vary. IVF procotols or ART may become necessary down the road and can be offered by a qualified Reproductive Endocrinologist.

I hope this helps.

Children after 30 does increase your risk for delivery problems, but the best thing to do is talk to your OB/GYN and discuss any concerns. My sister had her first child at 30 and if her little head wasn't so big, would have no problems. Good luck!
