They all would be charging less, the only thing that is inflating them is the government (and insurance companies). If most people had to pay costs directly, instead of indirectly through taxes and cost of products and reduced pay, the prices for medical services would plument.

That depends on your insurance status. If you are receiving coverage through a government program such as medicare, the health care provider can only charge a pre-set amount. If you are private pay (no insurance or under insured) providers can and do charge a higher fee for services.

I'm not really sure. But the last time we went to an emergency room (Private). When we received the bill, if we paid cash as we left , they reduced the bill by 40%.
How do you explain that?

The medical is a challenging profession.

I am going to guess that they would charge less. The unending deep pockets would be gone.

they would probably charge more! with the goverment involved they have no choice but to charge less!
