Long Street is pretty packed with good music venues and clubs. Mercury Live close to the Cape Technikon has lots of bands playing there quite often.
Somerset Road in Sea Point is pretty vibrant as well but in more of a clubbing with places like Opium, HQ, Pulse and the gay clubs like Bronx and Sliver. There are also bars like Monk and Buddha Bar (both in Sea Point/Greenpoint) which are worthwhile and Cubana has also opened up another franchise opposite Opiium too.

3 NOVEMBER, Bellville Veldrome, Northern Suburbs, Cape Town: Will Young, Patrizio Buanne, Marcos Hernandez, Shayne Ward, Bananarama!!! @ R260 per ticket (US$40). Westlife, Black Eyed Peas and Jay-Z also performed in Bellville recently.
