because of the policy of the present cricket authority in South Africa which selects players not on merit but more on color & preference is given to "black" players. Its such an irony that South Africa was banned from Test Cricket because of apartheid. If this isnt also aprtheid , what is?

He left South Africa and went to England as he was convinced that he will not get a chance to play for South Africa due to their quota system. Since his mother was of England origin, he felt he has better chance to play for England.

To Cloudy.
well, looking at the current team I don't think that's true, how many Black players does the RSA team have compared to White team members?,and how many are batsman?(always had a place for K.P), not many!I don't know why K.P didn't get in to the R.S.A team ,but I bet they regret it now!nothing condones Apartheid, after years of oppression on R.S.A Blacks don't you think they deserve a chance?
