I think that is exactly what our republican administration is working hard to create, Phase II, III and IV of their "Fool the American Public - Strategic Plans".
"Patriotism" was the theme used for Phase I - the war on Iraq over their Weapons of Mass Destruction. We were so busy grieving over our own country's loss over 911 that this whole "War for Oil" was snook in under "Revenge" and most Christians fell for this "Religious War" you know the "muslims trying to destroy Christians" crap.
The Republican Administration's current problem however is coming up with a way to rally all the "Patriotic Americans" or at the very least the "Christians" to fall for Phase II, Phase III and Phase IV (Iran, North Korea, Venezuela, etc. ) we do love our sequels. "War for Greed Part II" or "Revenge of the Oil Corporations' Profits".
The Republican Administration has been working hard on it.... a devasting terrorist attack on Israel? then on our soil? Bush?/C.Rice?/D.Rumsfeld? will be in office for 2 terms which will secure the "For Israel" followed by "For Liberty!" wars but then what about the "finale" its gotta be Grand, that's where the administration is having a writers' block.

I understand why Israel would be nervous but last I saw, Iran and North Korea are threatening to wipe out the U.S. as well. Seems to me that it would be in our best interest to back Israel should they decide to make a preemptive strike on Iran. And while yes, Iran has oil, don't you think their president chanting "Death to America" in a recent public speech should be the real focus? I don't care about the oil... I'm more concerned about raising my kids in a radiation free America!!!
Have a great day!!!

Israel hasn't ever asked for men to actually fight any of its wars, and they bombed that nuclear facility all by themselves, and its generally assumed that they already have a nuclear capability themselves. We use them far more than they use us, although we give them quite a bit of foreign aid, its should not be forgotten that we also supply quite a bit of money to Egypt and other Middle Eastern countries.

They ought to fight their own battles. No other country needs to send it's men as cannon fadder for countries that have been at war for 2000 years. It's not going to end any time soon and we shouldn't get in to it. I wish we would keep our interests at home.

I think the US has to consider going to war to defend any of its allies and to defend Western Civilization.
Israel qualifies on both counts.
We fought to defend England and liberate France. So I'd say yes, if need be.
