Women who are clinically overweight still need to gain at the minimum 15 pounds, and women who are underweight need to gain more than the average statement of 25-35 pounds, usually at least 10-15 pounds more depending on the severity of the weight problem. These figures are for the healthy woman carrying a single baby. Moms who are expecting multiples will need to gain more weight, although no standards have been devised for these special needs as a whole.
Making sure that your diet is nutrient dense, that is full of good things for you and your baby as opposed to junk food that is full of fat and sugar. This means at snack time reach for fresh fruit instead of a candy bar. Add some cheese to your crackers.
Most women will notice a slight weight gain in the beginning of pregnancy, usually 6 - 11 pounds during the first trimester. Some of this is water weight, so of this is materials needed to help your baby grow. Your baby is still very tiny at the end of this trimester. The majority of the weight will be fairly evenly spread over the last two trimesters, about a pound a week, with a little more at the end. It is also quite common to notice a cessation of weight gain, perhaps even a slight weight loss at the very end of pregnancy.

First of all, no matter what you weigh prior to pregnancy you must gain weight.

I think on average it is about 2-3 pounds a month but most women have at least on month where they put on a few extra. That number is just an average though...You may not gain any in the second or third month and then 4 or 5 ponds in the 4th. Varies by person. Also depends on your body type and how many babies you are carrying. If you are heavy set, you shouldn't gain as much. Average women should gain between 25-30 pounds total. HOWEVER>>>As long as you are eating regular healthy meals...you are pregnant! Enjoy It!!! Have that Ice cream if you crave it and don't obsess about it.

Every person is different. There is no standard. I *think* a lot of women end up gaining anywhere from 0-10 lbs by then. It really depends. I'm 19 weeks and I've gained 1 or 2 pounds. Every woman is different. Just enjoy being pregnant and don't worry about the scale :)

There are several factors to consider. What was your weight before becoming pregnant? If you were overweight then sometimes people don't gain hardly anything. If you were underweight then they like for you to gain more than usual. Did you have morning sickness or anything like that? I would say that 5-7 pounds would be about average.

There are "rules" for gaining weight during pregnancy, but it's nearly impossible to gain exactly the correct amount of wieght. I gained 60 lbs. during pregnancy. I know that's way too much, and a lot of people said they gained too much during pregnancy too. Also, we are all different. We all gain and lose weight and different rates, and we all have babies inside that are different wieghts too. You can't really go by the "rules". eat a healthy meal if you are hungry. Don't worry too much about it. After you have the baby, you will have so much to do, especially when the baby starts to crawl and make messes, you'll lose the wieght, don't worry about that.

There really is no "normal" if you feel like you are gaining too much, watch what you eat. I actually lost 5 pounds this time around (I am 15 weeks) because of horrible nausea. Just monitor yourself, and good luck.

Your doctor is the best source for the answer to this question. the right answer has to do with your pre-pregnancy weight and health. May I suggest if you don't have it already getting the book "What to expect when Your expecting" it is a really good question/answer month by month book that has all kinds of great information. They also have the "What to expect" series for the first year, the toddler years and I heard they have another coming out (or is already out) for the preschool years. I had the first three books and used them all the time...wish they would do one for the teen years!! Best of luck and Congrats!
