There are 6 college girls, 3 black and 3 white, and 4 college guys, 1 black and 3 white. We need help with a costume that we could do as a group. We wanted to be the Grease cast but there aren't any black people in Grease. I should probably mention that we go to a Baptist university so the costumes have to be appropriate...HELP HELP HELP!!!

There aren't a lot of "casts" that have 10 people. You might want to pick a show or movie and have some people be supporting characters. Some ideas:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Some could be the main cast, some could be villans, and some could be anonymous vamps. The whole group could be included in this.

You could always go political: Bush, Cheney, Rice, Powell, Laura, etc. Girls could be guys. Add anyone else recognizable.

You could always do a "Top Ten" list. Each person dresses up as a reason for whatever the title of your list is.

You could all make paper mache masks, paint them green with black alien eyes, wear dark robes and go as a group of aliens.

You could go as the cast of Spongebob:
Spongebob, Plankton, Squidward, Gary, Mr. Krabs, Patrick, Sandy, Larry, Mermaid Man, Barnacle Boy, Mrs. Puff, Pearl, Flying Dutchman, Patchy the Pirate and Parrot, etc.

You could do the Wizard of Oz.... Dorothy, Scarecrow, Lion, Tin Man, Wizard of Oz, add the witch, Glinda, and some flying monkeys and maybe a talking tree.

You could Dr. Seuss character:
Cat in the Hat, Fish in the Fish bowl, Thing One and Thing Two, Sam I am with green eggs and ham, the Grinch, the Lorax, Starbelly Sneech and plain bellied Sneech, etc.

Is it really necessary for a black person to play a black character, for a white person to play a white character? Why can't a black guy play Danny Zucko? Why can't a black woman play Sandy? With the right costumes and going as a group, people will get that you're the characters from Grease.

Last year I saw on the Martha Stewart show how they made a witches costume from black garbage bags and duct tape.
you need the drawstring bags. one they cut a slit in the area under the drawstrings so it was a bit longer and they cut ,in a zig zag, the bottom part of the bag off, that part is used for another part of the costume.
this one is for the top half of the costume. It is put on like a tube top with the drawstrings as the shoulder straps. pull and tie to fit.
don't worry about the strings coz they get covered later.
then another bag is cut to be the skirt, zig zag like the first and that is tied around the waist. Duct tape as much as needed to keep the top and bottom together.

they also cut a third bag in half to be the sleeves...they used duct tape to hold things in place. Just tape the sleves to the top.
the cut off parts are used to make the cape and they pulled on the zig zag points to stretch them.(also did on skirt)
It was pretty cool and waterproof but you may need scissors to cut the costume off when done.
I hope I explained enough for you to figure out how to do it.
a half dozen bags and tape are cheap especially if you already have them around

where you cut the zig zag depends on your size.
the sleeves bag is cut down the sides so one half the drawstring can be each sleve gather at the neck...
cut and fit the dress to size.
just add a hat and your good to go.
this can be modified to be a mans wizard outfit too.
you could be a pack of witches...added plus it's WATERPROOF

A few ideas I from the internet:

--the cast of Survivor (dirty, ragged clothes)
--the President (one) and the Secret Service (everyone else)
--Frankenstein's monster (or another beast) and an angry mob
--a bridal party (hillbilly or thug), complete with bride & groom, bridesmaids, groomsmen, maybe even in-laws
--prisoners and prison guards
--a queen bee & worker bees
--beauty contestants (guys in drag!), with labels such as "Miss Informed", "Miss Chevious", "Miss Understood", etc

There are a lot of others listed at various sites, if you do a google search.

Book nerds.- go as characters from a book (twilight {overrated}, harry potter, narnia, crank series, bleh blehbleh get creative. Movie geeks- pick a movie, and do all the characters. Party freaks- dress crazy casual {boring!!!!!!!} MY favorite, would have to be picking an era of music or decade of music and doing a favorite girl group or solo artists and do in a boy band. get creative.
