She's keen on a career in drama & acting and is currently enrolled with a local drama school & has passed the preliminary & Ist grade in drama. She learns guitar, keyboard & singing. She played the lead role in school plays for 2-3 years running. Now she is getting a bit impatient & wants more done in that direction. But she also is in a grammar school at the moment & we've told her to get an education first. But what do I do to help her take her steps towards acting now on a serious note. thanks

I would do an internet search on child auditions for commercials and acting and see what comes up also put in the area close to where you live. Go for it I wish I had as a child!!

You need to try and find her a specialist agent for child actors who will be able to advise and get her into castings. You can search under 'child agents' on http://www.theknowledgeonline.com and get a list of possibilities. You need to register with this site but it's free and just about the best contacts directory going for film and TV.

Agents may want to see an example of her work, audition her, or see a CV, but to be honest the best thing to do to start is just call them up and have a chat, and see what their position is. But if you do have any photos, videos etc that show her performing well, try and get them presented and edited so it looks professional, it may make you look as if you mean it and it's always good to have something to send them right away if they are interested.

REMEMBER: No good agents will charge a registration fee or audition fees - agents take a cut of any paid work they find for you. Costs you may have to cover yourself include costs for photos (although you should be able to get these done yourself, be a bit wary of any agent who says that the photos must be done through them, then try and charge you a fortune for it), the cost of a child licence (required before a child is allowed to work professionally), and all your own transport and expenses for auditions (not for work though!). There are fairly strict regulations about what hours children can work, so it shouldn't interfere too much with her schooling. She should go for it if she's happy and enjoying it, and as long as she isn't getting distracted or burnt out and it's not interfering with her education - she'll still benefit from this even if she becomes a successful performer. Good luck! Hx

Play the long game.
Instant gratification is not the way.
Stay in school.
Then go to an acredited drama school.
Learn the business and maybe get a lifetime of employment.
A tiny proprtion of drama students go into the business and most of them leave before they are 25.
The world does not need any more actors.
Arm yourself to the teeth and stay determined.
That might not be enough but it's the stickability that makes it work.
I'm fifty and work as an actor.
This is the busiest I have ever been.
Don't take any notice of people who write in saying get an agent, go to auditions etc.
It doesn't work like that.
I have to say I don't recommend the life but I'm too old to change my ways!
Just tell her to be realistic.
If she just wants fame then she will fail.
It's about hard work.
The business chews up and spits out kids.
Tough old boots like me cannot be hurt or disheartened.
If she is determined she will succeed but it is not the nicest profession available.
Good luck to her though.

i might might desire to assert that of the two ideal, lost & West Wing, lost has to take the cake, in easy terms for the organic actuality that ABC facilitates the viewer to pass returned and spot the episodes. the tale line is optimal, with such distinctive loose ends. i'm very demanding to work out the subsequent 2 seasons and the finale. it quite is a drama! yet props to West Wing for showing stable drama and modern-day events. no count if or no longer the politics replaced into stable or undesirable, it optimistic confirmed that individuals are doing a touch stable.

You should find her an agent and they can arrange auditions etc. No idea if it costs though, probably take a cut once she starts earning.
