The directions given in the print out is to give my son one and half teaspoons of antibiotic. I assumed that as 1 1/2 tsp. It turned out only 1/2 tsp. In the past, the same pharmacy would write it with numbers instead of words. And I did see a prescription from the same pharmacy wrote "half teaspoon" instead of one and half teaspoons.

The place of last resort (for serious mistakes) is the State Pharmacy Board (there is one in each state capital that licenses and regulates every store)----this is if they are doing really improper things at the pharmacy, like giving you the wrong medicine, filling illegal prescriptions, etc.

But with this kind of thing it is really (especially if it is for your child) buyer beware. You can't ask enough questions when you're getting a prescription. Get it out of the sack, look at it, read the label right there, and ask the Pharmacist to go over it with you, especially about dosage times and quantities.
Ask how it should be stored, and any other detail you can think of, let them tell you verbally. Many things can affect medicine use, including food eaten, alcohol use, time of day, other prescriptions a person is taking.
Take your time there in the pharmacy and use their expertise. They do not want an overdose any more than you do!
MOST IMPORTANT- if you are getting a "refill", open the bottle and look at the pills and be sure they look the same as the pills you got before. Look at them before you leave the pharmacy, every time.

Save the bottle and call the store immediately. Ask for the number to the regional pharmacy manager for that company. You complain to them. I hope he's ok? If he had to be treated, save ALL paperwork. You'll need copies to send to the supervisors.
