First they complain that “staying the course” is hard-headed and thoughtless. Then they complain when he changes his strategy. I am sure nothing he could do would satisfy the neo-left.

If "Staying The Course" was a name for a Bush strategy, then it was a failure. A new strategy is needed and fast. I was thinking, maybe America should vocally call for help from its Muslim allies. The situation calls for manpower that can keep the civil disorder in check. Manpower that is not such an appealing target for jihadic snipers and bombers, especially if they can't tell if a particular Muslim soldier is Shiite or Sunni. What kind of jihadic hero would return to his country-of-origin bragging of 21 kills -- 7 crosses/stars and 15 crescents!?

If the US asks its Muslim allies quietly for help, they'll get quietly turned down, because, frankly, the US has no real Muslim allies. They all probably would like the US to lose face and run with its tail between its legs even if it means another half-a-million of their fellow Muslims perish in the ensuing power struggle.

Maybe it should be the UN who should do the calling. If not maybe the US can open its embassies in Muslim nations to recruits willing to fight "the great hatred within Islam," save Muslim lives in Iraq, give force to the voice of Muslim moderation, not to mention gain US citizenship and a generous cash bonus for their families. They need not be trained to be soldiers, just policemen and security guards. Maybe these guys can even fly a new flag that is a combination of the Islamic crescent and the UN symbol.

It wouldn't bother me at all if the president decided that "staying the course" was no longer a viable strategy. That would be a move in the right direction. And it is true that we are seeing signs that they are finally starting to get it, and a change in direction is coming. What bothers me is that in an interview with Stephanopolous on This Week, Bush said that "staying the course" was never their strategy!!!! Hello?!?! What has he been saying repeatedly for years now? That's right! He's been saying "stay the course" like a parrot with tourette syndrome. Now he's claiming it was never their strategy to stay the course. Next he'll be telling us he never really supported the war to begin with. lol

Just so some people know.....

He's NOT changing the strategy!

The whitehouse made sure to let us all know so you can be sure that the of changing the motto does not mean anyone is admitting to being wrong!

... Whats happening is the terminology "stay the course" is no longer appealing to the American public because it sounds pretty hardheaded and stupid.

The strategy has not changed.

Just the wording of the motto.

Bush is a comprehensive failure, certainly. Congress is likewise a comprehensive failure. we could desire to have an entire replace interior the government; noone ought to vote for ANY incumbent federal, state or close by flesh presser. There must be a sparkling sweep via fact the government would not serve the desires of the yank human beings. we want a non violent voters' revolution. permit's vote those self-serving jerks out of workplace and attempt to get a central authority it is thinking with reference to the topics that are inflicting the give way of the yank financial equipment, formerly it is too previous due. u . s . of america has a central authority of the government, with the help of the government and for the government. permit's take it back for the persons!

please define failure

The level of violence in Iraq, on a per capita basis, is at present lower than in US inner cities. So are you going to evacuate New York?
Sure, there are, and will be problems- for as long as there are people willing to pump money and guns into Iraq to stir up trouble. You want to quit now? Then what will stop them from repeating the same trick- say in Mexico? Or some inner city in the US? Don't tell me- the immigration people will stop them? just as they did the last 30 million illegals?
The strategy is in the fighting of a war abroad- so that you will not have to fight it at home.
I hope.

This video gives a good reason for "staying the course". Just a more positive side of what's going on in Iraq.

I believe the Iraq war is all for US tur$t. justified by the believe that WMD are in Iraq. there were none there.

Why some people don't question what Bush says... is beyond me.

Unfortunately politics needs Rep./Dem. balance to keep each other in check.

It is a failure

600,000 dead

20,000 American severely wounded
close to 3,000 American dead.
Another 2,000 dead foreign fighters.

Compared to Tyrants of the past Bush is not doing well History will still give Mao, Stalin, Hitler a higher score than Bush.

Go big Red Go
