The greatest sin, I believe is not asking why and blindly accepting what the majority says. Only accepting what the majority says is worse than death itself.

Yes. I would put it slightly differently. In my view the greatest sin is being a mute witness to things going on around us, that we donot approve off. Worse still, is our talking , commenting and criticising about it.

Contrary to the belief that it is the majority that is making such decisions , we find that the majority are silent witnesses to the happenings around us. This , the politicians and interested parties are fully aware and exploit it . This will appear to legitimatise the whole thing.

This is not happening only in the underdeveloped countries. It does, even in the most advanced countries. Take the Iraq question. Take religious extremism. Take corruption. On all these issues we tend to put the responsibility on the authorities totally abdicating our responsibility or , shall I say, duty. This is a sin , no doubt.

Well if you talk about "sin" in the religious sense I believe there are the so-called "10 deadly sins" for Christianity... but I'm not a Christian so I have no idea what they are. In a general sense I would say the greatest "sin" (crime) against humanity is the murder of innocents... be it by a country's military, by a terrorist, or by some random murderer - it's always sickeningly wrong.

As a follower of Jesus Christ, I believe all sin is equal. Though we on earth might judge people by their sins like stealing, lying, cheating, killing, raping, or adultery, every person has sinned on this earth and whether we've just taken a cookie from the cookie jar or killed somebody, God looks at those sin as equal and wants to forgive us if we just ask for the forgiveness. If you do believe in Jesus Christ then your desire to sin should be limited because of the relationship you have built with Him and the desire you have to do good things and serve Him. I do know that once you have God's forgiveness and salvation, you can not loose your salvation unless you deny you have it to someone. To me this is the ultimate sin cause if you deny your faith and your relationship with Jesus Christ then it is like you are telling God you are ashamed of Him and the Gift He has given you. There are A couple of verse from the New International Version Holy Bible that I would like to share with you.
1) For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23
2) All wrongdoing is Sin. 1 John 5:17a
I hope these might help you out.

cannibalism incest are sins that have bad results naturally.
How much I wish all sins showed drastic results instantenously!

Hurting someone - even mentally is a sin as it creates unhappiness. I will not mention war or killing. Lying, stealing, adultry are all sins.

How can we learn to live without committing any sin?
That is civilization human kind should aspire to achieve.

Alas, we aspire to achieve that only after we have amassed billions - and then inthe name of charity (or to acquire fame) we want to give away what is ours - to the poor.

How can we achieve the charitable mind in the first place?

What do you want to achieve?
What are you prepared to do?

Assuming that we are superior to any other person on the planet. More hatred and bigotry exists that interferes with our ability to be each other's brother. It causes pain, war and so much else.
