Left side is best to sleep because your heart gets the best blood flow to the baby, but your belly will not hurt the baby if you CAN lay on your belly. Once you should stop laying on your belly, your body will not be able to. Your back is what they say to watch out for and that's a little later too. Congrats!

Woman on top is actually recommended, because it puts you in control.

I don't think it can cause any harm (Though I've never asked my OB), But I am 37 weeks pregnant and still lie on my belly...somehwat, I have to tuck my hand underneath one side of me and kinda 'prop' myself, Lol...But, It's the only way I can get decent sleep at night!

But I honestly don't think you can hurt the baby by lying/sleeping on your tummy, There is SO much protecting him/her in there, I believe it would take some kind of 'force' (Like a hit or a punch to the belly) to do any harm!!!

:-)

At 18 weeks your baby isnt but about 1 inch long. Sleep on your stomach while you can. You will have to stop at appx 6-7 months m

sleeping on your left side is recommended at this stage to help with circulation to your baby and you. i don't think it will harm your baby to sleep on your stomach though. im 35 weeks now and i fall asleep somewhere inbetween sleeping on my stomach and my left side. i would say enjoy it while you can, i am normally a stomach sleeper so i have a tough time sleeping as well. congrats on the baby

No, it won't hurt the baby. I slept on my stomach for as long as I could while I was pregnant. I think until I was at least 20+ weeks. Sleep however you can get comfortable now because before long you won't be able to get comfortable at all.

well, to be honest u're really not supposed to because of a lack of oxygen and blood flow to the baby. i recommend that u buy a pregnancy pillow, u can buy one at "babies r us" or even a long body pillow, and sleep on ur left side, trust me- it's the best sleep i've had in years with that pillow and i was a stomach sleeper! good luck.

You should be sleeping on your left side...this allow the oxygen to flow better to the baby...place a pillow between your knees...this will aline your body to make it more comfortable to you...Also, if you are use to sleeping on your stomach...try hugging a pillow...this will give you the comfort to make it feel more like you are on your stomache..

No, and if you like to sleep on your stomach, you better enjoy it now before you really get big!!
