Most of us like to think that the homeless are alcolholics or drug addicts and that thought helps us sleep at night, but the sad truth is over half of the homeless today are women with children. When we have over 60% divorce rate in this country and half of all the homeless are women with children. Then you add the fact that it takes a two family income to make it these days with the price of housing and all and our minumen wage is a joke.
I do believe there is a solution though and the solution is time. Over half the population in this country are baby boomers and we are hitting sixty now. When all the baby boomers die off there will be enough housing available for everyone. Cost of everything will go down. When I was a kid we lived in a 3 bedroom home just outside Washington D.C. for $60.00 a month and a loaf of bread costed 10 cents. What goes around comes around. Supply and demand.
Thats my oppinion and I'm sticking to it.

I wish and hope everyday about this. I get so sad when I see so many people who don't have anywhere to go or food to eat. I even thought about getting one to stay with me but my husband said no way! You know I was going to clean them up, give them a hot meal and help them get back on their feet. For America to be if not the richest Country in the world, why in the hell are there so many people out in the streets begging? I know that some of them messed up on their own. But still everyone deserves a second chance to live life to its fullest. The Homeless is my number 1 charity. And it always will be.

I believe homelessness has become big business today, it has become a way of life for many, It;s been created by our social system. It has created many jobs for those looking for a solution that will never come, we simply pay and tolerate it's existent.

In theory yes, reality no....A lot of homeless people are addicted to something that prevents them from attaining success...

Most with problems, won't even stay at shelters until they're desperate enough to sober up.

The underlying issues would have to be fixed first....Giving them a house wouldn't cure their addiction...

Yes.

If countries stopped putting so much of their money into defense and more money into taking care of their citizens, then things like hunger and homelessness and lack of education would not be issues.
