They are discriminated against for the same reason, muslims, hispanics and other groups of people are discriminated against. Fear and ignorance. People tend to fear what they do not understand or they dont know much about. Those who discriminate tend to fall into the trap of believing (negative) sterotypes about blacks, like we are all gang-bangers or we are stealing all the jobs from white Americans etc, etc.... sadly even the most educated sometimes tend to be ignorant. We all have to just learn to be tolerant of each other and pass these values on to our children. Beside how boring would life be if we all looked the same, think the same and do everything the same....

I too share this question with you but I think I have a tiny contribution to make. I want to believe that some of the reasons are they are very submissive, humble so in that way people just think that they are stupid especially those ones that are afraid to fight back another way is this after being enslaved for a very long period of time, some became very violent so most of the others fear them and discriminate them. but we're very nice people, the world over have both good and bad people so there's no genuine reason for a person created by God's image to be discriminated.

Is it really that one group is doing all the discrimination, or have we all learned to hate each other equally? I am of Irish and Scottish descent, and my best friend is African-American. I am friends with many Hispanics, Asian, African-American, and other "different" ethnicities. It is sad to me that as soon as I leave this area, I leave the ability to interact freely with people of a different background, whether it is racial or financial. Part of what I love about New Orleans is that everyone interacts, everyone unites. Even when we unite against everyone on the outside, we are united together inside our city.
I think that throughout the years, people have learned to hold hatred for other races and financial settings, and for their own beliefs. I also think it is time that everyone start trying to make a difference. Even if it is only once a day, in American that is 700 million people doing 365 small things per person per year. It adds up, and I think that we could move in the right direction if that small push was made by each individual.

Because being that the US built was by way of Black people this kind of history of discrimination and disenfranchisment that is so ingrained in US history would be hard to just remove from from the US completely. It is also a form or control as many answerers have answered before me. It is a combination of control, history, racial prejudice both institutional and personal, white privilege, communal disruption, and stereotypes. Alas this could also apply to other countries besides the US.

You will often hear discrimination against a black person, you know why... because Blacks usually cry out discrimination just about everything. I will give you one of the many cases i know. i am from Canada and just about a month ago we had a beauty pageants, the jury chose 10 finalists and it was only this year that a black girl didn't make it to the top tenth finalists and soon enough you hear all her relatives booing and screaming at the jury All You Racists Bastards. I mean what was that?? the girl didn't make it not because she was black but just because SHE WASN"T GOOD ENOUGH.

Someone has to be on top; someone has to be on the bottom. The people with the deadliest weapons are on top; the blacks are on the bottom. Discrimination is a form of control.

We are discriminated cuz the MAN is bringing us down... nah jk but i think it is because some Blacks may dress like a "hoodlum" or a "gangsta" and others dressed buisness like and also the fact that most blacks are portrayed by almost everybody to be a gangster. I know sad isnt it?
