I love the day after thanksgiving! My mother in law, sister in law and I get up EARLY and get out and SHOP! We stop for coffe and bagels. . .it's like the kick off to the Christmas season!

It's called black friday becuase it's the busiest shopping day of the year, and if the retail store ledgers were 'in the red' up until that point, their sales will be high enough to put them 'in the black' ANd did I say it's all I live for, penisbreath?!

I am right there with you. last year Walmart in ,my town opened up at 6:00 in the morning. I got there at 4:30 thinking that I can get there early and be in the front of the line.... NOT When I got there, the line was already in the back of the bldg. I could not believe how many people were there, and who camped out. Unbelievable..... but great!!!
I found some things I really wanted for people there, and then went to Sears Hardware store for 9, (they were giving away $10 gift cards for the first 100 people that walked thru the door) I was # 6 on that one. After the sales (around noon time) its time to go home kick off the shoes, and rest!!! its allot of fun and you never know what you are going to miss!!! I have been doing that for the past 8 years, and its a blast every time!!!! I used to go to AMES, then K-Mart, then fashion bug then Wal-mart, but now I just do WalMart, this year I will add Target to my list!!!!.
Wherever you are from, I wish you guys the best shopping this year, I agree with you, it is the BEST way to begin the season!!!!!

I have mixed feeling about it. I can't shop because I have only person I really shop for and he would be with me if I did go shopping. I work at night though, I like being the retailer, I enjoy seeing everyone, getting deals. :) , and hell yes it is the kick off to the Christmas season. it is terrific that way, we put up the decorations then.

My favorite shopping trip of the year. Get a majority of christmas shopping done, plus a lot a good deals on things for myself.
Also can get some of the best sleep afterwards from all the walking.

I love it & hate it.
It's annoying when my hubby, mom-n-law & sis-n-law get up at crazy hours for mad-house shopping! I get calls several times trying to get an opinion on something I can't even see. Then I have to meet up with them somewhere to clear out what they've gotten to make room for yet more shopping. They have tried to talk me into going for years, but I'd prefer my sleep after the big meal & I'd prefer to shop at my own pace. It's funny though...this is the only time my hubby likes to go shopping. HA!
However - you cannot beat the deals!! My husband has saved us hundreds of dollars, so we tend to have bigger Christmas mornings.
Happy shopping, crazy people...but go save tons! :)

I love it too. I have gotten some really good deals on this day. I have never heard it referred to as black Friday though.
