The answers thus far are fine. Lex parsimoniae means law of succinctness (parsimony) in Latin, which implies that nature usually takes the easiest route to get things done. And that, of course, is what Occam's Law is all about...it's one of the lex parsimoniae.

Another result of lex parsimoniae is the ordinary soap bubble. Soap bubbles take on their spherical shapes because that's the shape of least energy. A cubic soap bubble, for example, would use more energy than a spherical one with the same volume of enclosed air.
