I am pregnant with twins. We are naming them Hannah Grace and Timothy Jon Jr. I call my significant other Tim but a lot of his friends call him Timmy. We are having a hard time deciding what to call our son so that he is differenciated from his father.

An idea: use his middle name as what you call him.

Well I think Timmy is more of a childs name and that that should be used but if your husband is also called timmy it may cause confusion. You can always call him by his middle name or you could just call him junior(which by the way I am not a fan of).

Oh I just had an after thought...how about just calling him Timothy his full name...not nickname and when his personality comes out I am sure there will be plenty of nicknames you can call him. I personally call my son by his full first name.

Hope this helps.

I could do this all day lol. I am not sure if I understood the question correctly but if you wanted to just called him Timothy - you could call him Tony, T.J., J.J. for short! : ) And I have sometimes found kids end up with nn not even close to thier real names lol
PS I have edited this to say, I hate when I can't see what other ppl wrote until afterwards....like T.J. I thought I was doing so well lol but only 13 other ppl said it too lol.

CONGRATULATIONS, first of all.

I agree with many of the others - go with the full "Timothy" if its not too formal for you or if you really want a short form TJ is great - or T-Jay ....Someone might even shorten TJ up to "Teej" .

Until I got married I was always "JJ" and I have to admit , I miss being JJ.... JK doesn't have the same "ring" to it!

My wife and I had a son 6 weeks ago. We called our son Nathaniel James His middle name is from my cousin who passed but the first name is just one we liked. And I think it goes well together. We have a 3 year old, his name is Andrew Emmanual. Don't know if any of those names helped but we like them.

I like the name Jackson. Name him something that is his own name. Like do Timothy Jackson and call him Jackson. I think that sounds nice. Or add whatever name to the middle and call him that. I really like Hannah Grace:)

Call him Timothy. If you call your 'other' Tim and others call him Timmy, then just call your son Timothy.

I named my son after his dad, except Davy got his Dad's first name as his middle name. Then there is no confusion. It wasn't important for us to name him EXACTLY after his dad to make him a Jr.
