The amount of alcohol consumed during pregnancy that has a detrimental effect on the fetus is not known. Therefore, we recommend that you do not have ANY alcoholic beverages during pregnancy. However, in very early pregnancy, alcohol usually will not cause the "fetal alcohol syndrome" and may merely cause a miscarriage. I do not thing you have to worry about the few drinks you had for the past few weeks before you know you were pregnant. We used to allow a drink a week during pregnancy. However, it is better not to drink at all. I would not be concerned at this time. We worry more of the "binge" drinkers.
However, this may help you:
Effects of Alcohol and Pregnancy:
The first trimester of pregnancy can be a vulnerable time. Some medicines taken during that period can have catastrophic effects on the baby. The third trimester is generally safer. Evidence published in the February 11, 2000 issue of Science suggests that drinking alcohol even once during the third trimester can permanently damage the brain of a baby. Alcohol has its biggest effects when the synapses (connections) of the brain are being formed - during the last trimester of pregnancy and the early childhood years. When the developing baby is exposed to alcohol for even a few hours, a number of brain cells and synapses are permanently deleted.

Nah i wouldn't worry about it. If it was only that one time before you knew you were pregnant it's not a big deal. A lot of women drink alcohol when their pregnant and don't know and it never hurt the baby. As long as you don't continue to drink through out your pregnancy baby should be healthy.

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome can be tricky. Most of the research on the subject is contradictory. Based on meta-analysis research the syndrome is, for the most part, like Russian Roulette. Some women have perfectly normal babies after drinking more or less throughout pregnancy. Other women have children suffering from FAS after drinking only once during pregnancy. However, FAS is really only a threat earlier on in the pregnancy (the first few weeks of pregnancy), though, as more and more research is coming in (and there is no concrete evidence one way or another), complete abstinence from alcohol is recommended throughout pregnancy.

Probably not. If it was not enough to actually get you drunk, it was probably not enough to harm the fetus. Of course, we like to err on the side of caution on this, but in the centuries before fetal alcohol syndrome was described as a disease, people did not make those kinds of cautions, and usually only heavy drinkers had babies with real problems. A little wine or beer now and again does not seem to be a problem but, as I say, erring on the side of caution is good practice. When my friend was pregnant, her doctor said she could have one glass of wine per week. She had it with Sunday dinner, made a big deal out of it. The baby was healthy as any you can imagine, and quite beautiful. I was her godmother.

I really do not think that just one will harm your baby. It takes days and months of drinking to produce detrimental effects. Do not feel guilty, how was you to know?? Just please do not drink anymore. I know that my Mom drank a little with me, and although I don't condone it, I turned out fine. It is the everyday drinking continuously throughout your pregnancy that harms the baby and causes fetal alcohol syndrome. Ask your doc if you are not sure. Be happy, you have made a new life! Congrats and good luck.

I worked with a woman who when pregnant could not sleep at night and her OB told her to drink a glass of wine before bed each night. A small amount of alcohol will not harm your baby. Good luck and congrats!

It could, but if it was just a little and you didn't know you were even pregnant, chances are that it did very little damage. I went out with some friends and had drinks a few days before I found out I was pregnant, and now I'm five months with no signs of complications.

very no longer likely that any harm replaced into performed. easy/occassional ingesting has no longer been got here upon to do any harm, and on a similar time as interior the US medical doctors advise abstaining thoroughly (via fact there is not any thank you to completely *tutor* protection), in many different international places easy/occassional use is considered ideal. So a drink or a pair of glasses of wine with dinner as quickly as a week should not be a topic.

Yes... if you drink during the first 4 week... you'll be more likely to cause harm to your baby.
You need to have a consultation with your OB/GYN...
Just to give you a clearer picture here...
1st 4 weeks of your pregnancy is the most high risk period for your baby... because it's vulnerable to all teratogenic substance (dangerous substance) the 1st 4 weeks is the period when cells are differentiating...
An insult during this time... may affect your baby...
I hope you did not get drunk on the 1st 4 weeks...
Other than that... you'll be fine
After 4 weeks... it usually takes 3-7 days of ingestion of harmful substance to alter your baby's health...
During the last trimester... if you ingest any harmful substance... it will affect your conception...

No. Me and my sister actually got drunk one night a couple of weeks before she knew she was pregnant and her baby is fine. One drink won't harm it, although it's not good for it either, so as long as you aren't boozin it you should be okay
