I want to print something out that I have written on my laptop, to the printer downstairs. As I have no floppy drive, i cant save it and put it in the pc downstairs. It has works before. I got the printer name from downstairs and went in a list or something and clicked print from my laptop and it worked! How do you get it to do it again? Its in the list. Its easier to type on my laptop than the pc, so would be alot easier if the printer would do its job! What do i do? I go into conrtol panel and printers and faxes, and its there. I click on it and ive clicked on "share printer" and printer properties and printer prefernces but its saying something about the spooler? help!! x

If I understand you correctly you have 2 computers 1 which has a printer connected to it. You have right clicked and shared that printer across your network.
1) the workgroup you are in and the computer downstairs must be the same
2) If there is an error in the print spooler then you should restart the printer and the computer its attached to.
3) If that dosent work, go to the computer the printer is attached to and double click on the pritner make sure that nothing is in the print Que. If there is a stick job then right click and select pause then when its paused hit delete. Restart that computer.
4) If it still is not working. Delete the printer from that PC and reinstall it and reshare it under a new name and try that. Windows is not always the greatest without a server
Hope that helps

There has to be a trust relationship between the two computers. Here's the fastest way to do it. If you know the computer name, a username and password for the computer downstairs then, on the laptop, click start - run - and type \\computername. (replace computername with you own computer name). It will either connect directly and open up a window with all shared objects in the computer downstairs or it will ask you for a username and password. Once this is put in, try printing again. It should print.

IF you have a home network, you should be able to see you computer downstairs and 'drag' your document right over to it... You need to go into "My Network Places" to see the other computer. Since your printer has already been set up (as it did work).... don't mess around so much. Once you choose your printer, it usually stays there.... Just go "file print" or hit the print button and it should print. Your fussing around too much for something that already worked.

Make sure that the printer is on. Then clear out any print jobs that are listed in the print queue and reprint (when you print use the drop down box from file and choose the printer that you want to use)

Hi. The spooler is a file that the computer transfers the print data to first so you can type something else while printing. You don't say what type of operating system you use or what kind of laptop, but the "Help" should show you how to turn the 'spooling' on.

you have to go to the control panel click on printers, select a printer's name that matches the downstairs printer, and go ahead print your job.
