If you're using Internet Explorer, go to "Tools-->Internet Options"
There is a Tab labeled "Content" where you can activate a Filter.
Choose the content your grand daughter should not see, and click OK.

But bear in mind: Computers are stupid, and have no way of recognizing any content. This filter relies on the website to have special properties, that the filter can read, and therefore can decide if the site has violent or sexual content.

If the website owner doesn't implement this filter technology, Internet Explorer will not know the content of the page.

Other Filters like Web Nanny work in a similar way. There is no foolproof way to automatically protect your grand daughter from dirty images.
When she uses MSN Messenger, make sure she only chats with people she knows and trusts and ignores strangers, as there is no way for MSN Messenger to filter objectionable content.

As I said: no automatic filter can give you 100% security against dirty stuff. The only safe way is to surf together with your grand daughter.

We actually have net nanny at my workplace. I know your use is for a different purpose, but all in all it will have the same result. You can do a search for almost anything nowdays and come up with something inappropriate...you should've seen my results when I was just searching for a Halloween costume! Anyway, I would go to a store like Best Buy and purchase a program like Net Nanny. It filters out all of the bad stuff. Just make sure you keep the password!

Unplug the computer when you are not at home, if you don't trust your granddaughter to follow instructions. Children that can be trusted should be rewarded.

Children that cannot be trusted should not be entrusted to software.

You raised your child(ren) without MSN - your granddaughter will not suffer.

There are parental control software packages out there. You can restrict her usage by keywords, urls, times, days. I currently use ChildControl and it works very well for me. I have also used NetNanny and it works great also.

There are a number of filters but if she wants to find adult material then there is probably no keeping her away from it...
