Oh wow... Emery's song "The Ponytail Parades" comes to mind, for the following lines:

"It doesn't feel right
Holding someone elses hand
Together on phone lines
And living at two opposite ends

It scares me to think
That you could
Find takers
Other than me
And better than me
But your head
Is elsewhere
And I'm talking
Enough for both of us
When will you see
It's not (it's not) so easy for me?

'Cause, yeah... I live a long way away from someone who is very special to me.

But, the song that best defines my life is probably "Mockingbird" by Derek Webb.

"I can't afford to pay
For most of what I say
So it's a lucky thing
That the truth's public domain

And I am like a mockingbird
I've got no new song to sing
And I am like an amplifier
I just tell you what I've heard
I'm like a mockingbird.

Nelly Furtado "Try"

When my mother and father split I saw things that crushed me. And this part - "I wish I hadn't seen all of the realness/ And all the real people are really not real at all/ The more I learn the more I cry/ As I say goodbye to the way of life/ I thought I had designed for me" - explains that feeling.

When I got married (against her wishes) she came to the court house and just looked at me .. just like in this part - "Then I see you standing there/ Wanting more from me/ And all I can do is try/ Then I see you standing there/ I'm all I'll ever be/ But all I can do is try".

Kind of corny, but that's my song. Lol.

Gloria Gaynor's - I Will Survive. I'm not going to type a bunch of personal info, but the past 10 years has been rough (deaths in the family, work, and stress in general), but I've managed to survive. Life goes on.

Nothing really matters - Madonna

"when i was very young, nothing really mattered to me but making myself happy, i was the only one...
nothing really matters, love is all we need...
looking at my life, it's very clear to me, I lived so selfishly...
I realize that nobody wins, something is ending and something begins..."

"Your Star" by Evanescence

Lyrics Excerpt:

And I'm alone now /
me and all I stood for /
We're wandering now /
All in parts and pieces /
swim lonely /
find your own way out.

'desparado' by the eagles: why don't you come to your senses?; you only want the ones you can't get; your prison is walking through this world all alone. those words pretty much sum me up.
