Lack of counter/cupboard space. Things either need to be on the counter or in the cupboards and I am forever running out of room! Also getting things toward the back on the cupboards is an annoyance. Cupboards with pull out drawers are the way to go! I keep some appliances that I don't use often in the closet of another room and keep the things I use daily, or weekly on the counter. I also yearly get rid of anything I haven't used in the past year - a lot of times I give it to a family member or friend. Good luck!

If you are remodeling: Instead of having only base cabinets with doors, use mostly base cabinets with drawers--it's easier to store items in drawers. Put a cabinet over your microwave. If your sink is under a window, add outside shelves to the end of the upper cabinets that are on either side of the windows for some display. Have a small pull-down compartment at the top of the sink's base cabinet for convenient storage.
Be sure your kitchen floor is made of quality material and that it is not too dark--this way it won't show so much dirt.

I do not have a dishwasher. I had my kitchen renovated when I bought the house, I have counter space on both sizes of my stove. My counters are tile, therefore, I do not have to worry about setting a hot pot down on them. The house I had before, you could not set a hot pot on the counters. My best piece of advise about a kitchen is to make sure you can sit a hot pot on the counter without worry about ruinning the counter and to have a counter top very close to your stove.

The fact that the local, supposedly good, kitchen fitter started work in June 2004 and it's STILL NOT FINISHED!!! Few niggley little things still not completed... I'd suggest you go to somewhere like MFI (if you're in the UK) and get them to redesign one for you - they can do it in store with no obligation if you take in your measurements. Otherwise go to a good kitchen store and have a nose around to see what takes your fancy.

The fact that I have a galley kitchen drives me mad! The other half has promised to knock the dining room and kitchen into one (I can't wait)!

Definitely lack of worktop space annoys me in my kitchen. Also there are spaces underneath the worktops that you can't access - very badly designed!

My clutter. My kitchen would be a dream if I didn't have so much junk!
Also, I hate my round sink. It looked lovely in the shop.

The white floors...I get totally annoyed when my husband walks on there with his boots...they leave black marks...and takes me ages to remove....nowadays....if he wears boots in the kitchen he knows he is gonna have to clean the floor...that's deterred him.
