Actually if you consider the incredible numbers of people Saddam murdered during his 23 year reign the Invasion has SAVED lives.

Saddam murdered roughly 2 million people over 23 years which is about 87,000 a year. We've been in Iraq for about 3.5 years. Had Saddam been in power during that time, he would have wiped out another 304,500 people. Meanwhile, US deaths have been about 3,000 and civilian deaths roughly 50,000.

There can be many variables in this question; too many factors to have a completely accurate answer. As far as deaths from natural causes, etc. I'm not sure. Murders including war casualties appear to me much higher than any reasonable person could think would happen in the country were not a war-zone. Yes, Saddam gased the Kurds, murdering an enormous number. But, that was a semi-quick violent action. The war is drawn out, continuing with no end in sight. I must conclude that Iraqi deaths are dramatically higher now compared to a scenario with no war.

I'm cannot predict the future, but who's to say what Saddam would have done if he continued to be gone unchecked. He had the UN, France, and Russia on his payroll, he was using WMD on his own people, so I can't say for sure. I do throw a lot of blame over to the Iran side who is supplying the Iraq insurgents with weapons. This is sort of like a back handed Iran-Iraq war. Once we stop the influx I think the Iraq security forces can clean up the mess in Baghdad.

Nope, I don't think so. If Hussein were still in power, just as many if not more would have died.
