Character matters, as seen in some of the most recent elections. Bad character can be your downfall. Not just in sexual relationships, but in other so-called secret deals that are every-day occurences in public office.
Clinton was a womanizer, and for all we know, still is. If he's your idea of a hero, it's not saying too much for your character, either

The greatest presidents in time cheated on their wives. JFK, FDR, Einsenhower, LBJ, and there are rumors that Nixon had a girlfriend while married (even though he isn't one of the great presidents) and Harding (shameful president) cheated on his wife with numerous women. Everybody is human and makes mistakes and I bet the people that are gonna blast you right now they problably cheated on their spouses at one time. Everybody does at one point but does that mean you are immoral? No, if we were to judge how faithful every president was we would have lost many great presidents.

Honestly.... A good leader doesn't have to be a loyal husband....
A loyal husband on the other hand doesn't make a good leader...
As a veteran I can think of 2 squad leaders I had...
1 was very religious and family oriented the other cheated on his wife all the time.... I'd rather go to war with the later.... He was a great leader in that arena...

Abraham, Solomon, and David are considered great leaders in the old testament and they were all adulterers. Where else should you start looking for moral leaders but the Bible?
What do people care about in America? Tom Delay is being prosecuted for criminal activities involved with voters, elections, and campaign financing that extend far beyond himself in the Republican party.
So what's in the news? Mark Foley's sex scandal. That's what Americans get because that's what we ask for.

Yes, character matters in politics. Our elected officials should be the ones who set the example and moral tone for the nation.
Just because cheap sluts cheat on their husbands all over the country doesn't mean that our politicians should lower their standards. Indeed, they are the ones who should be held to the highest standards. -RKO-

Bush & Co. started a war that was based on a lie and thousands have died as a result. At least when Clinton lied, nobody died!

Oi! I'd drop you in a hot New York minute if you were my wife or girlfriend. Not hurting anyone, huh? Just wait- time will PROVE otherwise.
As to your question- yes character matters- but not to those who are conservatively challenged.
Have a great day....... cheater.

One that is caught cheating is proven to be a liar and untrustworthy. Those are two traits that should be bullet proof when you are an elected official. That is to say that if they lie and cheat in their personal life, isn't it likely that they will do so as your public servant?

I'm for separation of sex (between consenting adults) and state.
You're right, it's nobody's business and simply distracts us from more important social issues. It's a tactic conservatives use to avoid serving their constituents as public servants.

Nobody gave a rats patooties that he cheated on Hillary. Everyone knows Hillary didn't care, unless of course bill was hitting on one of her girlfriends. It's was the breaking of laws, and the neglect of the office that did him in.
