install a jbox near the breaker box, cut and resplice the connections there, then run to the breaker panel...this willwork and is ok by code

Get modern coated wire from your local Home Depot or Lowes. Do the job correctly or call in an electrician.

it would never pass code. you will have to install a junction box somewhere to tie into the cloth with UL listed plastic coated wire.
