Sports drinks are better for you when doijg excercise. The main reason is that they contain salts and sugars that are needed in your body that are lost doing excericise.
Another one supposedly is that they are isotonic. This means that they are the same sugar concentration as the cells in your body. This means that they dont make your cells peform osmosis. (If you dont undrstand osmosis look it up on the internet. It is basically the passing of water through a partially permeable membrane. This basically is a marketing ploy as your body has mechanisms to compensate for this.
Hope this helps.

Gatorade is NOT more hydrating than water. That is simply a marketing gimmick. Gatorade only becomes a viable workout tool if you do a constant workout, for at least 4 hours. (For example, a football player on the Florida Gators) Drinking water during activities is the best thing, plus it will help you drop weight. Let's compare 310 cals in Gatorade vs. 0 in Water If you have 1 Gatorade a day for a year that is: 113,150 calories! That is 32 pounds!

the sports drink do, since water does not have the Sodium and Potassium ions as well as other ions that are necessary for the proper function of the muscles. when u exercise and prespire u lose not only water from the sweat pores, but also these ions. so then if u drink plain water, then u will not have enough of these ions for the proper function of the muscle.

It says on the lucozade bottle that it has the right amount of ions needed when doing sport, but not sure if it actually makes a difference, maybe it does for top athletes running in the olympics but obviously not for me xXx

Sports drink. It has energy in it, and also has electrolytes (which you lose through sweat). There's not much point drinking them if you're trying to get fit though: all they'll do is give you more energy so you don't burn the fat you're trying to lose.
