I'm glad you aren't teaching MY kids! If you are a teacher, then why did you word your question the way you did? You compare native Americans with native Americans, not with 'Indian reservations'. An 'indian reservation' is the way of life for traditional native Americans, so wouldn't you compare that to the way of life for traditional native Americans of that time? Read a book called The Native Americans. It will enlighten you . Everything I was ever taught to believe in school concerning the natives of this country was a lie. The 'heroes' I was taught to look up to, such as General George Custer, Wild Bill Hickock, etc. were no more than murderers paid by our Gov't. to rid them of those people that they saw as a problem. I'm ashamed of what the whites did to the natives of this country, and I think it's funny how they now take so much money from idiotic gambling whites in their casinos.

The two can't really be compared. "Indian Reservation" is a term used to describe land reserved by the United States Americans for the purpose of containing the Native Americans. The first Native Americans were hunters and nomads. They didn't live in one place, and were constantly on the move hunting for food. Native Americans didn't settle in one place for long until they discovered how to grow food and developed pottery to store food.

As a teacher, you may want to refer to your study guides and resources on the Native American experience, or you might make it a research project for your class.
