Best news in 6 years- people are slow to learn, but finally we just might get an honest and working Congress again. Throw the bums and crooks out. Best news in 6 years.

Take some time to study SPC. Polls are statistically sound.
In 2000 Gore got 50,996,116 votes, Bush got 50,456,169 votes. We had a 42 percent turn out. As you can see Al Gore won that election. What would have been the outcome if Democrats would have ran a real person? In 2004 Kerry won Ohio. Ohio was given to Bush by the Bias Supreme court. Democrats will take the Senate but the House is too close to call at this time. Democrats will investigate Bush and the impeachment will move forward. The investigations will be greater than Nixon and Clinton added.
Nationally $145 million has been spent on TV adds by both parties. Mostly on negative adds by the RNC and moveon.org.

How many times did the Post have to ask that question before they found a poll they wanted to publish?

Opinion polls are nothing more than an excuse for a newspaper to put an op/ed piece on the front page.

I don't really care about which party the newspaper is rooting for.

I'd rather see more news about the candidates, rather than the parties.

Does my district's candidate disagree with the party?
If so, on what issues?

What is 'telling' in the poll is that independents are just discusted with the Republicans instead of being in love with Democrats.

The confrontational attitude by both parties is an insult to Americans. Both sides are corrupt, both side pander to special interests. For a while, the Democrats got caught - now it seems as though the Republicans are getting caught.

Since the Republican majority in the House, Senate, and Executive branch, I personally haven't seen a better America, I've seen more of the same.

Vote out all incumbents.

The Washington Post is a super liberal paper. But I don't trust polls that dont; disclose the questions. The reason they don't is that is shows the bias of the questioning.

Plus I'm thinking that if Independents were voting 2 to 1 Dem over GOP New Jersey, Tennesse, Virgina and Missouri wouldn't be statistical ties.

Sounds to me like the Post is trying to influence voters rather than just report the news.

A "knoll" is a hill, otherwise known as any item that could give rise to a JFK assassination conspiracy theory.

I think you meant "knell." No, the death knell comes when the votes are in and one side wins and the other side loses. Just wait until then. If you're right, you're right. If you're wrong, you're wrong.

maximum Independents are moderates and have self belief that Republican majority has taken u . s . of america too far to the wonderful. on the comparable time they see McCain as perfect-center, greater average than the extremists in his occasion and that i think Obama is in simple terms too far to the left for lots of them. i'm a liberal self reliant so which you comprehend the place my vote is going.

As you noticed from other answers, that the GOP doesn't think they. are going to lose. The reason why is because GOP controls the DieBold machines, and they know it. These people are so fruity, they don't care if the election is rugged as long as they win.

I've been surviving just fine thank you. If a person isn't lazy, and doesn't knock someone up or get knocked up before mariage, there should be no problem. It's still very easy to get a good education and a good job in this country.
