When I do a presentation I usually have the first slide showing whilst the audience is assembling and on this slide are 3 or 4 quiz type questions such as "if a neighbour's peacock laid an egg in your garden, who would it belong to you or the neighbour". Of course the answer is peacocks don't lay eggs, pea hens do. You must remember to tell the audience the answers before you start the presentation otherwise they wont be so attentive if still trying to work the questions out.

just remember to KISS it (Keep It Simple Stupid) - too many times people get to wrapped up in the format of the powerpoint deck that it dilutes your message. You're up there to present information on something, not how well you can animate a powerpoint slide. Too much makes it distracting and your message is lost, keep formatting to a minimum and just use it as little "eye catchers"

Ooo00oooO I love powerpoint. It always brought my grades up... I goto flamingtext.com and i awlays use the animated words for my titles. Just right click on your finished word and save it. then load it in the powerpoint as a picture... When your slide plays, The animated word always brings ohs and ahs.! :) good luck.. Yes music is great, as well as hyperlinking.

Music is big but don't want to overkill it. Different effects in slide transitions are nice. I would say go to office.microsoft.com and download some templates maybe, so you'll have a unique template to work off of, different background, that type of thing.
