There is some truth to what you say. When one gets a promotion and becomes a big wig, then some begin to feel their oats, and look down on their co workers, and lord over them.

Certainly the more socially elevated you get, the more people pile up BENEATH you. As individuals we're always trying to simultaneously separate ourselves in order to enjoy our individuality, while looking for a group we can belong to in order not to be alone. We have a clearer sense of self in a smaller group - that's why we're so comfortable with family. As for empathy, I think it just gets more focused. If you're talking the snob value of social elevation, I think it takes effort to detach yourself from the masses, since we are a community of souls, and feel a natural attachment to our fellow beings. Witness the frequency of people in a privileged position (us, in North America) helping the less fortunate elsewhere. So, NO.

I want to say YES. As one's social status gets higher and better and greater, they are less likely to consider to poor little people under them.

But then again, you can only hope that once the person's status increases, they will remember where they "came from" and understand how life is for the everyday American citizen. (or any other citizen for that matter)

i think this depends on your own personality, which depends on your upbringing (parents) and the society and the people whom you hang out with (like in school or your neighbourhood)

Not all high n classy people have poor empathy and vice versa, it does not mean the poor/or not so high status people have good empathy

I think this really depends on the individual. Some people are just naturally empathic and loving and kind. Others are not, so i think if they are not they may or may not develop it. However, I think it is a choice. God bless
