Everyone stumbles from time to time and needs a hand up. But how can anyone justify generational state and government aid? Do people in politics want these people dependent on them to ensure job security for the politicians?

Because more and more people are being taught that you don't have to work for anything,,,and that everything should just be a hand out....Its sad....We have to teach are children that nothing come free and we have to earn what we get....and you are right...the politicians do get to keep ahold of those who want more government aid...I look for people who want to limit gov. and have requirments like have to prove you are looking for a job, and have to keep a job....I know people who have gotten on gov aid and have actually told me, "why look for a job, I don't have to...the state takes care of my kid and me"....no the state don't...the tax dollars of people who work for a living do....I don't mind people who just have a run of bad luck that just need a little help getting back on their feet, and then get off...but those people who stay on it just so they dont' have to work make me mad...

Yep--job security for those who refuse to end the life-long welfare system. The "mend it - don't end it" philosophy of Clinton got him a lot of votes, but all that did was enable people to stay dependent on the government. These programs only demoralize the recipients when they're using it as a 'permanant' solution instead of temporary assistance as it was meant to be.
